Hello friends!
As you remember, from the last French lesson for beginners, to conjugate any French verb of the 1st group, we first of all need to take the ego base. That is, a part of a verb without the ending er. The basis of the French verb parler is parl.
Now let’s write down the plural pronouns we need, which, I hope, you know as well as your name! Together with the pronouns, we will immediately write down the stem of the verb we conjugate!
Nous parl
Vous parl
Ils parl
Elles parl
Fine! We are now ready for the further conjugation of the French verb parler in the plural! It remains to add the plural endings we need! What are we going to do now!
For the pronoun nous, we’ll add the ending –ons. And we get nous parlons, which is translated from French as “we speak.” Remember that the final -s is not readable in French, which is why we say nous parlons.
For the pronoun vous, we add the ending -ez. And we get vous parlez, which is translated from French as “you say”. As you can see, the ending -ez reads the sound e. Vous parlez.
For the pronouns ils and elles, we’ll add the ending –ent. That said, I would like to point out right away that in French verbs the ending –ent is never pronounced. It is written for the plural, but is not pronounced orally. And we get ils parlent, elles parlent which is translated from French as “they speak (for the masculine gender), they speak (for the feminine gender.)”. ils parlent, elles parlent.
